Tragic News for the Marathon Community in the loss of Kelvin Kiptum

Today we are mourning the loss of the remarkable Kenyan athlete, Kelvin Kiptum who passed away at the age of 24 in a car accident in Kenya. He left behind his wife, two children, and a World Record in the Marathon distance.

Please join us in praying for his family and everyone who knew him. They are going through unimaginable pain. Kiptum's coach also lost his life in this horrific accident.

Kiptum was an icon for overcoming adversity. After having to borrow his first pair of running shoes in his first race major race, Kiptum went on to win the 2023 Chicago Marathon last year with a time of 2:00:35.

He will forever live in history as one of the greatest marathon runners ever. At such a young age, he had accomplished so much. We are all feeling this loss deeply.
